TRACK QUEST.

It is our goal as a club to establish a permanent site to hold our club races. We are currently racing at a parking lot which is a temporary track facility that must be set up for each race event. We would prefer to race at a permanent kart track that would have the necessary safety features and facilities to hold club races as well as regional and possibly national events. We see two possibilities for a successful club home track. A track to be built by the club on land provided for us or adoption of a private commercial kart track as our home track
For the first option we have obtained an agreement in principal with the Okanagan Auto Sport Club to build a track on land (Thunder Mountain) that they currently hold a long term Crown Lease on. This option would involve our club merging with the OASC. It will also require support in the form of donations and sponsorship in the community to provide the resources necessary to build the track. The Thunder Mountain Motorsports Park is located about 1 km south of the Big White road about 1 km west of Why 33 on the Idabel Lake Road. The proposed kart track would be built on an approximately six acre site that is flat and was prepared several years ago for a speedway. To this point we have had a Geo-Tech study on the site done to determine its suitability as a track base. The result of this study is that very little site preparation will be required to provide a suitable road bed. A detailed construction estimate and time line has been prepared for Phase 1 of the project which includes the track and basic amenities (fencing, washrooms, and small pit area). The total value of this estimate for materials and labour is $272K.
The club is currently seeking any and all possible sources for funds, materials, and services. We would welcome any pledges of support from the community to help bring this quest to reality. For further information please contact any of our executive members.
Our second option of adopting a private commercial kart track, is pending a suitable facility in the southern interior. At present there are no rental kart tracks in our area that incorporate the necessary safety features required for race karts. There are several examples of commercial tracks in Canada that are used for rentals and racing.
Stratotech Park International Raceway - Edmonton Alberta

Cameron Motorsports - Hamilton, Ontario.
Goodwood Kartway - Toronto, Ontario
Mosport International Raceway - Bowmanville, Ontario
SRA Karting - Montreal, Quebec.
3S Go Karts  - Sutton Ontario.

Lelievre Karting - Mont-Joli, Quebec (french only).
It is our belief that, with the tourism in our area, a privately owned commercial track facility, with the capability of multi-use, could be a viable business. The multi-use concept, rentals and racing,  serves to expose and promote the other activities at the facility. We would be interested in talking to anyone wishing to pursue this type of business, and would be prepared to commit support to it.
